AAPM becomes official member of the Academic Council on the United Nations System.

The Academic Council on the United Nations System (ACUNS) is a global professional association of educational and research institutions, individual scholars, and practitioners active in the work and study of the United Nations, multilateral relations, global governance, and international cooperation. ACUNS was founded in 1987 and is headquartered in Washington, DC . Commissioner/Chancellor George Mentz said, "We are happy to join the United Nations Academic Council".

ACUNS aims to facilitate communication, exchange, and debate on issues related to the UN system and international affairs among scholars, policymakers, practitioners, and students. It provides a platform for research, publications, conferences, and educational initiatives focused on various aspects of international relations, global governance, peace, security, sustainable development, human rights, and humanitarian affairs.

The council also seeks to bridge the gap between academia and policymaking by fostering collaboration and dialogue between scholars and practitioners. ACUNS members include academics, diplomats, government officials, civil society representatives, and students interested in advancing understanding and cooperation on global issues through the UN system.
